HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Feeling a little tender today, as i'm sure most of the UK is but it is so worth it! I've been living in London for seven years now and last night was the first time I ventured to Embankment and watched the London fireworks display. The display itself was amazing but the atmosphere just blew me away. Last night, sipping red wine from a plastic cup (Classy as ever!) and surrounded by friends and family that i love dearly, I felt truly proud to be British and i did shed a little tear of absolute overwhelming joy. What a fabulously successful year it has been, teaching, gigs, parties, travelling the world and marrying a wonderful man! Like everyone there are parts of 2016 that have not been welcomed so easily and i'm grateful to have such a wonderful network of friends and family around me.

As a performer I feel there's something quite special about ringing in a new year. I feel we as performers spend our lives over analysing our every move, asking the same questions. What if I get offered that job? What if I had taken that job? How will it affect my current position? What opportunities could it bring for me? What would I be sacrificing in my personal life to make it work? Would it be worth it? And because of this I find myself reflecting every New Years eve on the choices I made throughout the year and how my life has changed so drastically in just 12 months. Despite all of the reminiscing on the good and the bad, every New Year I have a feeling of sheer excitement about the prospect of a fresh start and for what the future year has in store for me. Bring on 2017!

I wish you all a prosperous new year, good health, wealth and happiness. Rochine XxX
