Authentic Samba!

Last night we went to the most AMAZING Samba club in Rio called The Rio Scenarium! We both had a meal which was very reasonably priced and also shared a bucket of Beer which cost about £1.75 per bottle. The bar/ restaurant is set over there floors, all of which are filled with antique ornaments and wall art. It was very quirky and interesting to look at. It is 50 Real per person to get in but you pay this at the end along with your bill. Each guest uses photo ID upon entry and is given an itemised menu that the waiters use to tick off what you have ordered throughout the night. I thought it was a bit cheeky that they added additional service charge to the bill despite us paying 100 Real to enter. There are several tradition live samba bands that play in the main hall throughout the night and people gather around them to dance the night away. The second floor also had a room with a live band and singer the evening we were there but this was suited to a much younger crowd. The club itself feels completely safe and there is lots of security. The location is in a bit of a strange area and I wouldn't recommend walking here late at night or staying on the street outside the bar for too long once it closes. We used a yellow taxi on a meter from our hotel in Copacabana and it's was around 65 Real. If you're looking for an authentic Brazilian night out, I would highly recommend this place ans can't wait to go back! http://www.rioscenarium.art.br/
